Planning
and Action Tips
- The "rule of sixes:" It takes 6 days to 6 weeks to create a new habit, so be patient with yourself.
- Know your top 3 - 5 goals (personal and professional).
- Take time to plan every day, even if initially you don't do it perfectly
("progress not perfection").
- Determine the best mix of electronic and paper scheduling/calendaring system: experiment but be persistent.
- Prioritize daily tasks.
- Take time daily to process paper and email: Stay ahead!
- "Prize" yourself enough to allow uninterrupted time on your calendar to work on tasks and projects: It's
O.K. to close your office door.
- Rules for delegating—–empowering others:a) Open communication;
b) Clear boundaries of responsibility and authority; c) Regular meetings; d) Agreement on outcome; e) Trust & Prize the other person
- Maintain balance in your life (Body; Mind; Spirit)
- Remember: "Don't take yourself too seriously" and "Have fun!"
